Rating: My bookshelf
Reading Level: Early Elementary
The more I read about this girl the more I love her. Clementine grapples with the insecurity about what her classmates think about her. She discovers that to be liked by her classmates, she didn’t need to try so hard after all.
Possible Concerns:
- Tattoos/Casinos. Conservative families may struggle with Clementine’s references to wanting to be a tattoo artist or work in a casino.
- Yoga. Clementine’s mom does yoga.
As for me, the sweetness of friends and community in times of trouble, the honesty about feeling uncomfortable when its your turn to be affirmed, and the mother’s distaste for plastic all made me fall in love with Clementine, Friend of the Week.
