Alex has done it again! Another sweet tale with delightful talking animals and a heart-warming story. A young timid girl grows into a strong advocate and peace-maker in the wilderness of Alaska.

The only potential concerns are:

  • “Stupid.” A moose calls his own horns “stupid” when he’s frustrated that they got him stuck
  • Living with Grandma / Father can’t Parent. Rosa goes to live with her grandma “because she has nowhere else to go.” (Not sure if that would be a sore spot for anyone). Later on in the story she shares that “dad couldn’t take care of me anymore” and that’s all we hear of why.
  • Author’s note about creature connectedness. The end includes a note from the author that talks about creatures being connected and us living at peace with one another. That note could easily be skipped or cut out of the book.

If you like this one, you’ll adore Milway’s Hotel Flamingo series.
