Rating: Not for me

This easy-to-read, comic-book inspired story might be ideal for young readers—especially young readers facing a new town and a new school— if it weren’t reinforcing two treacherous stereotypes:

  1. The main character doesn’t like school
  2. The main character says he doesn’t need math.

I also don’t like how he assumes the principal is against him, makes a villain out of his little sister, and doesn’t obey his mom right away when she calls.

I just don’t need these models in my family.
