Little Goddess Girls: Persephone and the Unicorn’s Ruby by Joan Holub and Suzanne Williams

Reading Level: Early Elementary

My daughter picked this one out of the library shelves, so I thought I’d at least give it a try—but we’ll be promptly returning it. 

Concerns:

• The main characters are young goddesses.
• sending magic hugs via chanting
• Use gifts from young Zeus
• Try to grow on using their powers
• Eat jelly beans for lunch (ugh!)…

If I wasn’t coming from a Judeo-Christian perspective, I’d probably think it was a cute & sweet early read. The girls learn about friendship and sharing. However, this one posits the main characters as young goddesses, and it just felt too pagan for me.
