Rating: Needs Parent Supervision
Reading level: Middle School
Four siblings seek lost treasure in an effort to rescue their missing parents. They battle goons who also want the valuable artifacts and who are willing to do anything get to their hands on it.
Potential issues:
- Sex appeal. Hormone-charged exchanges between the 17-year old brother and various ladies play up the teenaged character. These scenes come with comic-style drawings of large-chested beach babes in bikinis.
- Obesity. Villains call the overweight big sister “Shamu” and other names that are disrespectful to the obese.
- Paganism. The ancient artifacts are often associated with myths or religions that I don’t personally ascribe to. For example, one minor character is described as a bit crazy but nevertheless believes herself to be a reincarnation of a bee-goddess.
Things I liked:
- Family. I like how the family generally likes each other, the kids respect their parents, and the family spends a lot of time together in this series, often working together to overcome villains.
