Rating: Some Families May Like It
If you’re desperate for books for your youngster to read, you could do worse. However, I’m not a huge fan of how the main character has a rocky relationship with her mom & stepdad. She is still grieving her father’s death while the rest of the family moves on.
There’s also the usual teenage sass, cliques and popularity contests, and some sibling bullying.
The silly humor mixed with 1980’s nostalgia might make this worth it to some families. When my kids get older-if they don’t have attitude problems with respecting authority _ maybe I’ll green light this one. But it’s not going to live on my bookshelf.
