Rating: I like it BUT some families may not
Reading Level: Middle School
I like this better than the previous Friday Barnes Mystery, and you don’t really need to read The Plot Thickens to enjoy this one.
Friday and her schoolmates head to a rustic wilderness camp with a gruff, unreasonable director. Friday uncovers several mysteries and makes enemies. This will be just fine if you don’t mind:
- Indecent exposure. Friday removes her pants to make a flotation device. Her long shirt covers everything, but even so I like how Ian jumps and turns away when he notices.
- Name-calling. The director often calls the campers “maggots.”
- Romance. The usual 1-2 comments with Friday noticing Ian’s good looks.
