Rating: Not for me
I have no major concerns with Katie the Kitten Fairy (which involves the usual characters: goblins, fairies—plus a new fairy kitten that has magical powers of its own. However, I’m always weighing the good against the bad, and in this one, the main character’s midriff-showing T-shirt plus the main fairy’s strapless short dress just doesn’t model the modesty that I want my daughter to look up to. Also a kid immediately gets to keep a stray kitten for a pet when he asks his dad, which is probably an unrealistic standard for most families.
I don’t mind some of the Rainbow Magic books. Although the plots are a bit far-fetched, at least Debbie the Duckling Fairy and Rita the Frog Princess Fairy at least feature modest clothes and no lying to parents.
