Rating: My bookshelf

Reading Level: Early Elementary

Possible concerns:

  • Insults. Brutal honesty about appearance (A man is told he doesn’t look good with a cap on).
  • Body humor. The dog considers biting people “in a place that would keep them from sitting for days.”. I think it is silly but appropriate, however some families may have more strict rules than mine.

Overall, a sweet story that reminds me how the good shepherd loves his sheep.

Bechdel Test rating: Dubious. The main shepherd and her dog are two central characters, and they “converse” about music.
