Rating: Needs Parent Supervision (Divorce)
Level: Early Elementary
Unfortunately, the plot in this one was bland. Maybe my expectations were too high after reading CatStronauts by the same author (and loving it!).
Potential Concerns
- A little bit of potty/body humor
- The book normalizes spending the weekend with Dad doing fun stuff and then getting dropped off at Mom’s. If you have a broken family, it might be refreshing for your kid to read some story that doesn’t have a mom and dad together but still can have a fun day. On the other hand, I wonder if I this normalizes broken families in a way that makes kids who are unfamiliar with divorce think that it’s not that bad or painful.
Although I’m not 100% sure about this one (and the plot seemed a bit blah), I really liked Book 2 in the series, Flight or Fright.
