Rating: My bookshelf; Needs Minor Parent Supervision

Reading Level: Early Elementary; Mid-Late Elementary

I think the good outweighs the bad on this one.

Good stuff:

  • Girls doing science
  • Teamwork
  • Valuing friendship, creativity, innovation
  • Materialism is portrayed in a negative light

Negatives

  • A bit of potty humor
  • Spying on the rival team when it is suspected that they stole an idea
  • A young girl handling electronics while wearing rubber gloves. (Here I think you need to remind your kiddo not to play with telephone wires, etc.)

If it were not for the last bullet point, I wouldn’t think parent supervision was necessary at all. The positive outlook on things and the can-do attitudes are infectious. Two thumbs up.
