Rating: Needs Parent Supervision

Reading Level: Middle School

A series of classic-feeling fantasy stories, always with beautiful princess, often with a love story and often with a sorcerer or spell that needs to be broken. Potential concerns:

  • Sorcery, witches, witchcraft—never portrayed in a positive light but too strong to be ignored.
  • Obsession with beauty. Princesses are described always as having remarkable beauty, and often their princes too.
  • One story has children snatched from their parents. Could be a bit unsettling for youngsters but for middle grade probably ok.

I chose middle school because the language is a bit formal; younger ones may have a hard time following or a hard time staying engaged with the slow-moving plots.
