Rating: Not for me

Reading Level: Early Elementary

Major concerns:

  • In a sneaky plan, Aurora switches clothes with another girl to trade places for three nights(!!!) sleeping in a stranger’s house without her caregivers’ knowledge. In today’s world this behavior is absolutely unsafe.
  • Aurora throws a temper tantrum when her aunts don’t let her come to help strangers
  • Aurora disobeys her aunts, sneaks out, and follows them toward the strangers. When she is discovered, she is rewarded by getting what she wants.
  • Aurora disobeys her aunts’ rules about where she can and can’t go
  • Aurora talks with a stranger (a young girl)
  • While in a new place, Aurora runs away to where her Aunts can’t see her (see excerpt below). Her justification? She might not get a chance again to explore.

Bottom line: unsafe behaviors, disobedient mischief, stranger danger. No thanks!
