Young pig has superpowers. The clever humor is sometimes dry and may go over the head of an elementary kid.

Possible concerns:

  • Potty/body humor. Burps, pee, and at one point (spoiler alert!) a sea monster eats a villain and poops her out
  • Magic. Batpig uses a magic spell to cheat on a test and pays dearly for it. In the end the moral of the story is to never use magic from an old rabbit in a creepy shop. Personally, I’m ok with that message.
  • Hiding superhero identity from parents (which is common in some superhero stories). But at one point there is a huge eye roll when his parents say he should aspire to be more like Batpig.

Overall the solid friendships (e.g., calling Batpig out on cheating), the lack of romance, and the clever humor make the good outweigh the bad for me. I really liked When Pigs Fly, which gives the origin story.
