Rating: Needs Parent Supervision
Reading Level: Early Elementary
I liked this Snow Day edition way more than Book 1: Mr Wolf’s Class.
All in all, this book captures teachers and students doing real life, having authentic feelings, making mistakes, and having fun. I like that the teacher is compassionate and I like that the students forgive each other.
Possible Concerns:
- Potty/body humor. Fart sounds with armpits, etc.
- Superstition. A kid thinks if he steps on a crack he’ll break his family member’s back.
- The main character’s little bro is going in for surgery. Just giving a heads up if your family has someone in the hospital.
- The main character receives a love note. So very mild romance.
- The kids are excited to skip math.
Overall I like the healthy interactions with teachers and peers. I don’t like the negative views on math. Also, a heads up that other books in the series are not for me.
