Rating: Needs Parent Supervision, Not for me
Reading Level: Early Elementary , Mid-Late Elementary
This silly, clever sci-fi was lots of fun but had a lot of concerning ghost and ghost-worship stuff. I’m guessing most kids would recognize it was make-believe, but still worth having a conversation that we don’t worship ghosts, etc.
Possible Concerns
- Skipping school
- Mentions of ghosts, zombies. Invisible Boy’s mom thinks he is a ghost.
- Girl bows down to a ghost.
- The villain deceives his mother with a button that hides his evil lair and makes it look like a Lego playroom.
- Use of luck, a lucky coin
I had serious concerns also about Book 2: The Adventures of Invisible Boy: Zeroes to Heroes, but I used them as teaching opportunities and I strongly recommend the same for your kiddo as well.
