Reading Level: Mid-late Elementary

Rating: My Bookshelf, Needs Minor Parent Supervision

I like this one quite a lot more than Book 1 in the series. I appreciate several nods to faith and prayer, and I like the balanced emphasis on stewardship of creation. The kids attend a church summer camp, and several verses from Psalms and Job are featured.

There are still a couple possible concerns:

  • Spooky ghost moments, then lying to mom about seeing a coyote
  • The kids sneak off to hunt a coyote in the woods, then one kid peels off to search for his lost sister, and they are in the woods alone overnight.
  • There is a native legend about the coyote helping give humans fire.

I’d be interested in more from the Tree Street Kids series. Here is my review of Book 1: Jack vs. the Tornado.
