This Princess in Black story has a grouchy cat and a grouchy monster. Both are very entertaining.

I don’t recommend this one because the monster and the cat end up getting what they want by throwing temper tantrums and misbehaving. The moral is simply not very healthy for kids.

Other potential concerns:

  • Conservatives on gender roles my not like that a male cat ends up wearing a tiara,which is traditionally worn by females. The same is true of The Prince in Pink story in this series.

I don’t recommend all of the Princess in Black series and parents should judge each book separately without assuming they all are a good fit for your family.

I do especially love The Princess in Black and The Science Fair (Book 6).
