Brilliant writing again from Jaclyn Moriarty. If you’re ok with magic spells, fairies, elves, witches, nymphs, and the like, then your kiddo will love this masterfully woven tale.

Potential concerns:

  • a bit of child labor,
  • the aforementioned magic, witches and spells,
  • a bit of violence
  • name calling (“You daft git!”)
  • one mention of someone being drunk
  • a bit of fortune telling.

The writing and the story are so good that it’s totally worth it for a reader who can handle the above.

To get the most out of it, you must start with The Extremely Inconvenient Adventures of Bronte Mettlestone, and I highly recommend the audiobooks for both, as the narrators are just crackerjack (aka very good).
