Rating: Needs Parent Supervision

Reading Level: Early Elementary

I can see why people like Junie B. Jones. She has a lot of spunk. That said, she is really naughty, and she models patterns of thinking that I don’t want my kids to follow.

  • “I hate that Jim.”
  • “I guess that makes him my boyfriend.” Kindergarteners don’t need that kind of thing put in their brains.
  • Allowing friends to bribe her with gifts, even via the shoes off their feet
  • Shouting at grownups
  • Saying she could beat that boy up

Her way of looking at things is really entertaining and she’s full of mischief, but I don’t want my kindergartener thinking like her, so I’ll save this for when she’s old enough to laugh at it without copying it.
