Reading Level: Early Elementary

The cover features two cats in a hot air ballon with cupcakes and ice cream on it, so it seemed quite tame. But I didn’t like how the cats’ magical quest took them to engaging with a volcano spirit and the rainforest spirit. It felt rather evil and pagan to me.

Primary Concerns

  • Creating magic potions to obtain unlimited snacks
  • A volcano spirit challenges the cats with a riddle and threatens to eat them if they don’t get it.
  • A rainforest spirit claims to be the source of life for the rainforest.

For me the bad just outweighs the good on this on. Instead of going on a magical journey to have unlimited snacks, I’d recommend a story about cats who sensibly walk upstairs to get a granola bar and a banana from the kitchen.

Even better if they thank Jehovah Jireh before tucking in.
