Reading Level: Early Elementary

Not my favorite, to be honest, but my son loved it.

An evil vulture is taking over the land, with his evil creatures. An ember stone is said to be the key to saving the forest from destruction (I don’t know why) and a firebird is needed to rescue it.

Possible Concerns:

  • Dark magic. It feels like the whole book is in Mordor.
  • Weapons, fighting.
  • Disobeying orders from authority. This is my biggest concern. Although the main character has a heart to fight for good, he disobeys commands to stay out of a particularly dangerous place.
