A pair of siblings disrupt Snow White’s story after entering through a magic mirror. They work to restore her love story with the prince.
Things I liked:
- Snow White questions Prince Charming’s character instead of just rushing in simply because he’s a prince.
- Snow White shows more agency than in the traditional damsel-in-distress version.
- Snow White turns down a marriage proposal and suggests they go slow into a relationship.
Possible Concerns:
- Overall magic, sorcery, and fairy tale romance themes
- When they encounter a hissing magic mirror in the basement, the siblings don’t run to get their parents.
- There is a conflation between romance and what it means to be happy. (Admittedly Snow tackles this perspective later on, but it still is a strong influence throughout.) The main plot is the siblings work on returning to Snow her “happily ever after,” which they equate to the prince falling in love with her.
- Several references to OMG for which I read, “Oh my goodness,” but which might be worth a conversation.
