Reading Level: Early Elementary

A dragon adopts a cold cat meowing (and eventually freezing) outside his home. I thought this junior chapter book was heart-warming.

(Spoiler Alert! The fat cat ends up having kittens!)

Possible concerns:

  • Some potty humor as the cat doesn’t initially have a litter box.
  • I typically like to use “chubby” instead of fat with young children to try to encourage less use of the word “fat,” primarily for fear they offend an overweight person with the word.
  • I haven’t read other books in the series, and I know of some negative reviews of other books by this author.
