Reading Level: Early Elementary

Jess and Lilly try to break the curse that has been placed on their little otter friend. The curse makes her messy and unscrupulous.

Concerns:

  • Curses, chanting to break a curse.
  • A witch who wants to take over the forest
  • The villains steal

Something I liked:

  • The curse is broken with objects the otter loved. It reminded me of how we become our true selves when we break through against the chains of sin.

Overall, this is not my favorite story, but I suppose it might illustrate the power of sin over us. It might make for good discussion but nevertheless, the curses and chanting are just not for me.
