Beautiful, beautiful allegory about God’s kingdom. The book primarily follows Scarboy, and orphan, who is later re-named Hero.
Possible Concerns:
- The children are orphans
- There are fires and other peril.
- A presumed thief is beaten with a paddle. It sounds brutal but it ends up with a hard and beautiful lesson learned.
I recommend this for the whole family, especially as a read-aloud. It is just beautiful. It might be a bit difficult for very young ones to hear about some of the peril, but everything is tastefully done.
