Rating: My bookshelf (with reservations; I don’t particularly like it)

Reading Level: Early Elementary, Mid-Elementary

Possible Concerns:

  • Aliens. There is an alien family that can transform into human shape.
  • Screen time. Kids have a playdate in which they play video games, break for food, and then watch a movie. Yuck.
  • Superficiality. Kids whine about a shirt not matching their eyes. See excerpt below.
  • Gender Roles. The aliens talk about boys and girls dressing differently. See excerpt (p. 72) below.

Overall I’d allow it on my bookshelf, but it’s not one I’d go out and seek out for my kid. I just hate the emphasis on screen time, but I know that’s not necessarily everyone’s issue.
