Rating: My bookshelf
Reading Level: Board/Picture books
This book is an award winner for a reason. Kids learn subtraction and see Pete choosing positive emotions when bad things happen.
Things I like:
- Basic math. Kids do a subtraction problem each time Pete loses a button.
- Positive responses to losing his buttons. There is a pattern when the author asks, “Does Pete cry?” And the response is, “Goodness no!”
- Fun twist at the end!
I also recommend Pete the Cat and the Missing Cupcakes.
