Rating: My bookshelf
Reading Level: Early Elementary
I didn’t like the first Doggo and Pupper book, but this one is a winner.
Possible concerns:
- Deceit. The dogs trick the humans and say they are easy to fool
Things I liked:
- Pets with character. Animal lovers will enjoy the personality these pets display.
- Reluctant-reader friendly. The plot is interesting for an older kid even if the reading level is young. Highly recommend for reluctant readers who don’t want content that is too babyish. (See example pages below.)
- Friendship. The dogs try to help the cat. The cat is brutally honest.
I also recommend Doggo and Pupper Save the World, but I did not particularly like Doggo and Pupper (Book 1).

Below are the first two pages. These are included to give parents a sense of the reading level.
