Rating: My bookshelf, Needs Parent Supervision

Reading level: Board/Picture books

At first I didn’t like how this one had apparent lie, but I think it actually helped illustrate that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and all of us need God’s help to be truth speakers.

Possible Concerns:

  • Disobedience, deceit, and dishonesty. The main character disobeys her parents and lies about it and gets in a whole heap of trouble. You need to make sure that your kid takes away the message and doesn’t just take away the poor decisions made by the main character.
  • Parent mistake. A parent doesn’t tell the truth, and the child calls her out on it. At first I didn’t like the bad role model the parent was being, but later thought they did a good job of illustrating that parents make mistakes and we also need forgiveness.

As you might expect from a book in a series called Good News for Little Hearts, this book illustrates biblical principles for young ages.
