Mac is recruited by the queen of England to recover lost treasure in a silly spy story.

Possible Concerns (including spoilers).

  • Comments that grown ups don’t really know what is going on. Here is an example: “Grown ups are always making me do things that did not make much sense.” In another comment he says grownups don’t really know what happens on the playground.
  • Mom has a boyfriend, and Mac is somewhat disrespectful of him. Mac comments that he is too cheap to pay for full price movie tickets. (No explanation as to what happened to his dad, who is never mentioned)
  • Body Humor. Jokes about underwear & getting pants stolen.
  • Inconsiderate of Authority. Goes on spy mission without telling his mom. She was supposed to pick him up in an hour.
  • References to suicidal hanging. Describes a locked room riddle with a man hanging dead from a rope in a room.
  • Social wounds. Mac is not invited to a birthday party and feels a bit sad about it.

My biggest concern for this one is comments that make adults seem like idiots. I’m not sure if the good outweighs the bad for me on this one. See also my reviews of Book 1 and Book 3.
