Reading Level: Mid Elementary, Late Elementary

Landon wonders whether everything we see is by chance. He slips into a dreamy fantasy world which reminds him of the creator and author of all things.

Possible Concerns:

  • Whimsy. Some of the fantasy is really disconnected. I don’t mind fantasy, but this book was a new level of nonsensical events, much like Alice in Wonderland.
  • Mild Peril. There are a few scary moments (e.g., arrows flying, hypnotism, and chess pieces attacking). I expect everything is appropriate for a typical mid-elementary audience.

Overall, for me it was a bit too disconnected fantasy, like how Alice in Wonderland is sometimes nonsensical. But I still appreciate the overall goal of pointing to our creator God.
