Phil tells a story about how his Veggietale dream exploded and died. A great autobiography pointing to God’s love.
Possible Concerns:
- Divorce. Phil’s dad walks out, and Phil clearly sees divorce as a panacea in his parents’ generation. He refers to the sexual revolution in this way: “Whatever ‘fun’ there was in the sexual revolution was squandered entirely on my parents’ generation.” (p. 15). He talks about the way it gave him trouble trusting people, expecting them to leave like his dad.
- Loss of jobs. When the company goes down, painful cuts are made. When other tough decisions are made (e.g. when they pull out of a development project), people get angry.
I can’t think of any other possible concerns. This books is a great chance to hold our dreams up to God and let Him take them, break them, or remake them.
