A 13-year-old ranger and an undercover diplomat uncover treason disguised as sorcery.
Possible Concerns (Spoiler Alert!):
- Sorcery. Illnesses and strange events are attributed to sorcery by the country folk.
- Hypnotism. A villain uses hypnosis to obtain intel and control people.
- Slavery. A brute is given to slave traders.
- Peril. Sword fights, ghost-like creatures, attempted escape, arrows.
- Use (once each) of the terms, “damn,” ” hell,” and “Oh God.”
- Romance. A kiss on the cheek and mention of a few moonlight kisses.
Although all the suspected sorcery ends up being explained away, I still think the topic bumped it up to high school age for my family.
Definitely read the books in order. Here are links to my reviews of Book 1, Book 2, Book 3, Book 4, Book 5, Book 6, Book 7, and Book 8.
