Rating: Not for me
Reading level: Early Elementary
Four princess friends create a magic bracelet to help an injured dolphin.
Possible Concerns:
- Magic. Instead of letting there be a vet on the Island, the author chooses to have one of the princesses craft a magic bracelet that helps the dolphin. Also, the dolphin speaks to a princess through a magic pearl.
- Sneaking away to avoid being helpful. The princesses sneak away from a prince because his queen mother needs help and they don’t want to help her.
- Snooping. They think a prince is up to mischief so sneak into his room and snoop around. They find a treasure map; it turns out he’s hunting treasure.
- Going on water, unsupervised, in a lightning storm, then jumping in the huge waves to help a sick dolphin. It was so dangerous, and a bad model for kids.
The premise is promising:princesses help animals. But for me, the bad model and the use of magic outweighed the good.
