I’m not super into history or geography, but this book has become my new favorite read on Sabbath mornings.
The author expertly mixes geographic locations with Bible stories. There is also some more information about the modern buildings, churches, and monasteries that have been built in key places. It is no surprise that the author leads tours to the Holy Land; you feel like you’re going on one as you read.
I’m no expert in Biblical archeology, so I can’t speak to the accuracy, but I appreciate how the author acknowledges disputes about the locations of places. Regardless, reading about the geography of Israel in tandem with scripture passages from that place has just sort of made my understanding of scripture stories come more alive.
