Ok I know that I’ve got some conservatives in my audience who might be cringing at a book about a democratic politician, but just hear me out!
This was a really good book! The emphasis was on racial equality, perseverance, and fighting for what you believe.
Possible concerns:
- Conservatives may not like that there is mention of being endorsed by Obama and that Stacey was considered as a running mate for Biden. But listen y’all! We need to listen and learn from each others’ stories and respect each others’ perspectives.
- Conservatives may not like the assumption that Stacey lost an election because many people didn’t vote. But her work helping folks register to vote is honorable.
Bottom line: this is a respectful, honest perspective about a woman who stood up for what she believed and who fought for good things. I highly recommend it, regardless of your political affiliation.
