Reading Level: Early Elementary

A young timid girl grows to overcome her fears. A young wolf cub finds the right home (not her original family). A theme also is about stewardship fo the forest; a woodcutter thins the trees for healthy light to get through.

The potential concerns are:

  • Stranger Danger. A pack of wolves moves to town, and the major theme is we don’t need to be afraid of them. But the mama bear in me says, “uh, yes you do!”
  • Finding your new family. Rosa lives with her grandma, and the wolf cub also needs an (unconventional) home. I think the presumption is that the cub’s family died in a landslide, but it isn’t explicit. I think for an orphan or foster child it would be healing as they try to find the right “pack.”
