Possible Concerns (beware of SPOILERS!):

• Child Abuse. A child is abused physically by being beaten and by being drowned. He also experiences verbal abuse, and unfortunately it is by someone who is a leader in the church. Sigh.
• Fortune telling. Emma goes to a fortune teller’s booth and receives a very pointed fortune.
• Romance. There is some more passionate kissing. Nothing that is rated R, but it is dangerous culturally so has that element of deviant we shouldn’t be doing this kissing.
• Emma jokes that she will exorcize demons by writing about what happened.
• Death of a twin sister at age 20.
• Use of the term, “bastard,”
• Violence. There are several instances of boxing—men hitting each other a lot. Blood and more.
