Reading Level: Late Elementary, Middle School

A 13-year-old girl and her friends use statistics and data science skills to solve problems and navigate school life—including a few embarrassing moments.

Things I like:

• Faith and Science together. There are characters that pursue science and a deeper relationship with God, and the two don’t hinder eachother.
• Statistics and Data Science concepts made accessible. Readers are exposed to principles of study design, problem posing in data science, variable selection, and some descriptive statistics.
• Astronomy. A couple astronomy topics are discussed as well.
• Teamwork & Friendship. The kids work together to solve problems. They model ideal collaboration.
• Problem Solving. The kids address challenges and persevere to solve problems.

Possible (minor) Concerns:

• Bullying. The main character stands up to some bullying from an ex-friend.
• Accidental indecent exposure. The main character accidentally has her undies showing at one point.
• Racism. At one point the main character wonders if the bully targets a particular kid because of the color of his skin.

Of course I’m biased on this one! However, I wrote it to be a clean, educational book with some funny elements, too. Enjoy!
