Bulldozer and Friends: Bulldozer goes to School by Elise Broach

I have mixed feelings about this early chapter book. It is gentle and sweet, but I think it could promote negativity about school.

Possible Concerns:

• Negativity about school. Bulldozer is not excited about going to school. He grumpily disagrees with his mom about his need to learn anything. He fakes a stomach ache. He brings up worries about all the potential things that could go wrong.

If your kid is nervous about going to school, this book could certainly make it worse. If your kid isn’t nervous, then this book might make them think they ought to be!

It would be a great book to develop some empathy for those who are nervous.
