Rating: Needs Parent Supervision
Reading Level: Late Elementary, Middle School
Sophie continues to wrestle with her identity and with her superpower capabilities.
More of the problematic worldview that says “follow your heart” and “just do what you think is right” as well as self-reliance.
Possible Concerns:
- Unbiblical Worldviews about the source of strength and healing. Sophie looks to herself for fixing problems.
- Girl talk/Crushes. There is a still some talk about crushes, boys, and fluttering hearts.
- Tragic loss of father. Sophie is blamed by some for the loss of a father. Two, actually.
- Tragic loss of daughter to a fire. Sophie discovers the fire was not set by her parent organization.
- Telepathy/ Mental Superpowers. One of Sophie’s gifts is telepathy; she can read minds, transmit messages and (spoiler alert!) later we learn she can also inflict pain telepathically. Now she also reaches into minds to heal them.
- Body humor. There are jokes about poop and a character calls an alicorn Glitter Butt.
- Fantasy. Allicorns, goblins, elves….
