Rating: My bookshelf
Level: Mid-Late Elementary, Middle School
Possible Concerns:
- Potty humor (Wee wee)
- Magic, fantasy characters, growing into a tree & back to human again, jumping in and out of book pages, ink & art with magic properties
- Demon-like villains
Things I liked:
- Many scriptures and hymns included.
- Good parenting. A parent does all he can to fight for his kid, even throwing away his life savings.
- A pastor/clergy member is portrayed positively, encouraging creativity.
- Good relationships with adults. The kids’ adventures are generally within the authority of their caregivers instead of disobeying or unwisely refusing help.
Fun fact: the Inklings, and characters C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien are sub-plot heroes.
This is best read after reading Book 1 and Book 2 in the series.
